MANCHESTER — A three-goal effort by Grace Gibson allowed Corbin to improve to 3-6 as the Lady Redhounds picked up a district road win on Monday by defeating Oneida Baptist, 8-1.
Gibson started things off just 24 seconds into the match as she found the back of the net to give her team a 1-0 lead.
Oneida Baptist answered and tied the contest at one apiece during the 14th minute before seeing Corbin take control of the game.
A goal by Guadalupe Campos during the 16th minute gave the Lady Redhounds a 2-1 edge, and the Lady Mountaineers never recovered.
Campos’ goal was one of seven unanswered goals as Corbin cruised to the easy win.
Gibson’s second goal of the game at the 19th minute gave her team a 3-1 edge while Anna Dotson’s first goal of the match increased the Lady Redhounds' lead to 4-1 at halftime.
Dotson’s second goal just two minutes into the second half made the score 5-1 while back-to-back made penalty kicks by Clara Finneseth and Kaiden Walden gave Corbin it’s sixth and seventh goals of the match.
Gibson put the finishing touches on the win with her third goal of the contest with eight minutes remaining in regulation.
The Lady Redhounds will be back in action Thursday on the road in a key 49th District matchup against defending 13th Region champion North Laurel.
