WILLIAMSBURG — PAE's Visa Support Services filed a Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification (WARN) on Wednesday, notifying the Kentucky Division of Workforce and Employee Services of a pending permanent closure. The total number of affected employees will be 425.
The contract that PAE had is being re-awarded to another employer and employees say that they will be transitioned to the new employer on the new contract.
PAE's VSS is due to to expire Feb. 28, 2020, and the WARN notice stated it will no longer be the employer on the VSS contract after that date.
"Our customer, the Department of State (DOS) has notified PAE of their decision to re-award the contract and another employer will assume the VSS Contract on or about February 29, 2020," the WARN notice states. "Therefore, layoffs from PAE's office at 3505 North Highway 25 W, Williamsburg, KY will be effective February 28, 2020."
The letter states that the workforce is not represented by a union and the entire staff will be laid off as it will be a permanent closure.
The new contractor could hire the current employees.
