Several students at Lynn Camp Elementary have been more excited about reading lately, thanks in part to Nikki Hendrix's fourth-grade reading assignment. Hendrix's class has been reading Harry Potter and she said they can't get enough of the book and the characters. The class read "Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone" in October and finished up with some projects and a test. Students created their own wands and took a spelling test over words in the book. Hendrix has loved watching her students come to class excited to learn and especially read. She said she even got a couple messages from parents telling her how much their children were enjoying reading. Fourth-grade student Braelyn Babylon came to school Friday dressed in an outfit inspired by the book. Ryan Mangum said he loved reading the book and finding out what the characters would do in the story and described some of it. Lorelai Prewitt said the book is so different from the movie it was good to get two different points of view. Prewitt is excited to read the second book. | Photos by Angela Turner and contributed
