An on-going investigation by Operation UNITE into drug-dealing activities in Whitley County resulted in arrest warrants for 27 individuals.

Through noon Wednesday, Dec. 20, all but six people have been arrested.

Shortly after the indictments were published in the newspaper 14 of the wanted individuals had surrendered to authorities. A mini-roundup to arrest the remaining 13 people was conducted on Monday, Dec. 18.

Assisting UNITE detectives were officers from the Williamsburg Police Department, Whitley County Sheriff’s Office and the Kentucky State Police.

Those arrested are:

• Wendell Brown, Corbin, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Ron Canada, 37, Clifford Canada Road, Corbin, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance, and trafficking in marijuana under eight ounces.

• Ella Cooper, 66, Williamsburg, two counts third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Doyle Stanford Fritts, Williamsburg, two counts second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Steve Hinkle, Corbin, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Carl D. Hurst, Williamsburg, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking in marijuana under 8 ounces.

• Kim Jackson, Williamsburg, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Brian Joseph Lawson, 22, Mountain View Road, Williamsburg, possession of marijuana.

• Anita McCune, 39, Locust Grove Cemetery Road, Keavy, three counts first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and one count third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Aaron Morgan, Deering Road, Corbin, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Tammy Moses, 27, North U.S. 25W, Williamsburg, first-degree trafficking controlled substance and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Brian Michael Powers, Woodbine, trafficking in marijuana over 8 ounces, attempt to flee apprehension, and tampering with physical evidence.

• Don Powers, Woodbine, trafficking in marijuana over 8 ounces and promoting contraband.

• Randy Floyd Sulfridge, 39, White Oak Road, Williamsburg, two counts second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Jason Taylor, Williamsburg, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Ronnie Taylor, Woodbine, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and trafficking marijuana under 8 ounces.

• Kyle Vermillion, Corbin, three counts second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Sherrie Vermillion, Corbin, three counts trafficking in a controlled substance first-degree.

• Clayton Lee Walters Jr., 36, Kentucky 26, Rockholds, forgery of a prescription first offense.

• Jason Wayne Walters, 26, Kentucky 26, Rockholds, forgery of a prescription first offense.

• Jenna Wheelheight, Canada Town, second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

The six people still being sought are:

• Clarence Edward Lay, 28, Woodbine, two counts first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Billy Lowe, 48, Wilson Street, Corbin, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Crystal Gayle Mahan, 34, Kentucky 895, Williamsburg, first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance and second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Joe McVey, 47, Craig Road, Williamsburg, third-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Judy Meadors,46, Canada Town, Williamsburg, two counts second-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

• Judy Virginia Petrey, 48, Corbin, forgery of a prescription.
