Around 20 students at Corbin Primary School are spending the week exploring a variety of hands-on careers thanks in part to the Knox Promise Neighborhood. Students have learned about careers in plumbing, carpentry and engineering, just to name a few. On Tuesday, they spoke via video conference with Matt Noonan, a mechanical engineer from Missouri. Then they went on to build catapults and collaborated to build roller coasters. On Wednesday, local chefs Kristin Smith and Kent Hubbard skilled students in the culinary field, working with garlic, tomatoes and pasta. Thursday, students will learn about careers in agriculture. Missy Scent, the Promise School Coordinator, said the career camp has been one of her favorites to host. | Photos by Angela Turner
