CORBIN -- Bubby's BBQ is a veteran at Burger Week. Owner Mark Shepherd and his crew have participated in each Burger Week in Corbin and in the fourth year of the annual event, Shepherd believes the Texas Style BBQ Burger is a winner.
The Texas Style BBQ Burger features a half-pound patty, half a pound of pork, onion petals, pepper jack cheese, barbecue sauce and bacon.
"Bacon is good with everything," Shepherd said.
"We felt like we've put a good product out," Shepherd said. Bubby's BBQ was the home of the Breakfast Burger last year that was a big hit in the first-ever People's Choice Award for Burger Week.
This year, Shepherd wants that trophy and he piled the Texas Style BBQ Burger with all the goods to deliver him that trophy.
Staff Writer Angela Turner tasted the burger during a video interview that is featured on Times-Tribune Newspaper's Facebook page. Turner noted the barbecue sauce had a little bit of heat to it.
"Now the onion petals is what sets it apart," Shepherd said though about the burger.
Not only do patrons get the burger for $5, but they also get fries with it as well.
Bubby's BBQ has been established since 2010 and has built itself a bit of notoriety. Bubby's BBQ has been in the news for its buffet on several occasions. The buffet has garnered national attention from magazines and websites, including Buzzfeed.
"To me it's one of the best buffets in southeast Kentucky," Shepherd said. "We've been fortunate enough to be ranked Top Buffet in the state of Kentucky, Top 25 in the nation."
But this week all the focus is on the Texas Style BBQ Burger and the traveling trophy for the People's Choice Award which you can vote for your favorite burger at www.corbinkytourism.com.
