GEORGETOWN, Ky. (AP) — A body found at a Kentucky storage facility was that of a missing woman whose boyfriend was charged with her murder, authorities confirmed Wednesday.
An autopsy at the Frankfort Medical Examiners office confirmed 32-year-old Sheena Baxter's remains were found at a storage unit in Richmond Tuesday, news outlets reported. A cause of death wasn't immediately released.
A Scott County grand jury indicted Baxter's ex-boyfriend Joseph Hicks on robbery and murder charges in her death Tuesday.
Baxter was last seen on Valentine's Day at her sister's home.
Hicks, 53, was already in jail after being arrested last week on charges of filing a false police report and tampering with evidence. Police said he reported being shot during an attempted robbery at a store in Georgetown on the day Baxter disappeared, but surveillance video showed he wasn't there.
Last week, police searched Hicks' car after receiving a tip and found Baxter's cellphone.
A judge issued an emergency protection order and a temporary protection order for Baxter against Hicks in 2018, court records show.
It's unclear clear whether Hicks had an attorney who could comment on his behalf. His arraignment is set for March 2.
