If you’re an avid football fan this weekend is just what the doctor ordered.

Let’s take a glimpse of what’s ahead of us:

• If you want to watch a good ole rivalry match-up tonight, go no further than Corbin’s Campbell Field.

It will be very interesting to see the match-up between the Redhounds and South Laurel.

The Cardinals have won the past three match-ups against Corbin, but that doesn’t mean a thing tonight.

The Redhounds will be without the services of tailback Blake Freeman, but don’t be surprised to see the troops rally around Freeman’s injury and come up big against South Laurel.

The key players for Corbin in this game - Josh Sanders, Rob Madon,Corey Sewell, Josh Martin and Clint Cashen.

The key players for South Laurel - The obvious is Ricky Bowling, then Cody Quinn, Terry Bingham, Randy McQueen and the entire defensive line.

You want my feelings on the outcome? Then read the Fear ‘Les’ Forecast.

• On Saturday, Corbin’s Campbell Field will be the venue for the 28th meeting between the University of Cumberlands and Union College.

The Patriots lead the overall series 18-9, but the Bulldogs won last season’s game, 35-34.

Cumberlands was rated No. 5 at the time, but couldn’t stop quarterback Joey Waters. Union College fell behind 21-7 before outscoring the Patriots 28-13 the remainder of the game.

Waters completed 28-of-44 passes for 312 yards and four touchdowns and earned the NAIA Offensive Player of the Week.

Back to Saturday’s contest - This is going to be a big event folks. The National Guard Army is going to have a nice set-up at Campbell Field and if you’re a high school football player come to the game with your team jersey on and you’ll get in free.

Like I said, Saturday should be a special day at Campbell Field.

• I’m not through just yet. How about Sunday’s game against the University of Kentucky and the Louisville Cardinals?

I hope Rich Brooks Wildcats can keep the game close at Papa John’s Stadium, but I just don’t see it happening.

I did notice that former Knox Central and Lynn Camp players Matt Ramsey and Jimmy Chaffin made the rosters for Kentucky.

That’s two good ‘ole local boys along with Chris Cessna (North Laurel) and Dallas Greer (South Laurel, Bell County).

The Cardinals will win in a rout, 63-14.
