Betty Stewart

Betty Sue Stewart, 65, of Corbin, passed away Sunday, July 27, 2008, at Oak Tree Hospital in Corbin.

She was born Aug. 25, 1942 in Corbin, a daughter to the late Jerry Jones and the late Mabel Williams Jones. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by one son, Johnny Ray Jones; two brothers, James and Paul Jones; and one sister, Margie Jones.

She was a lifelong resident of this area and believed in the Baptist Faith. She was a member of Gray Baptist Church. She was a retired nurse’s aide, having working for the Corbin Hospital.

Survivors include two sons, Tom Davenport and wife Inez of Jacksboro, Tenn. and Harris Stewart II of Corbin; one brother, Ralph Jones of Devils Creek, Ky.; four sisters, Maybel Smith of Corbin, Colene Jones of Tampa, Fla., Jewell White of Gray and June Jones of Corbin; seven grandchildren; one great-grandchild; and a host of other friends, relatives and loved ones.

Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Gray Baptist Church, with the Rev. Cleo Goodlett and the Rev. Dennis Chesnut officiating.

Burial will follow at Black Cemetery.

Pallbearers will be friends and family.

Visitation will be from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 30, 2008, at Gray Baptist Church. The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made to the burial fund of Ms. Stewart, c/o Tom Davenport (son), 227 Hope Weir Lane, Jacksboro, Tenn., 37757 or directly to the Corbin Funeral Home.
