Wagon Wheels East

CORBIN — The Kentucky Trail Blazers Club’s wagon train was spotted near Barbourville Wednesday afternoon as the group’s members made their way to the 65th Annual Daniel Boone Festival. The wagon train, close to finishing its more than 200-mile trip that began in Finchville, stopped along the Cumberland Gap Parkway near KY 1232 to allow stragglers to catch up.

According to Wayne Beckley and his son, Todd Beckley, it is the 42nd year for the wagon train, which changes its destination to a Renfro Valley festival every seven years when its dates coincide with the Barbourville festival’s. The group will camp at Lay Elementary.

The Daniel Boone Festival continues through Saturday in Barbourville. For more information, visit www.danielboonefestival.com/
