CORBIN — Saturday afternoon saw an observance of Pearl Harbor Day in front of the Whitley County Courthouse in Williamsburg. It recognized the 72nd anniversary of the bombing of Pearl Harbor by the Japanese.
The University of the Cumberlands ROTC held a presentation of colors, followed by an introduction from Carolyn Falin, regent of the William Whitley chapter of NSDAR.
“Let us be ever grateful and thankful,” Falin said.
There was a ceremonial laying of the wreath, and the memorial was concluded by the ROTC lowering the flag to half staff.
Cold weather meant a very low attendance for the event, and the crowd dispersed quickly afterward.
