No driver found after single-vehicle crash

The Times-Tribune

Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputies are looking for a person who was driving a blue late-model Ford Explorer when it was involved in a one-vehicle crash Monday on U.S. 25W near the Cumberland Valley Water District headquarters.

Steve Powell of the Oak Grove Volunteer Fire Department said they were called out to the wreck at around 6:45 p.m.

According to reports at the scene, the Explorer was driving south on 25W when it possibly rolled over four times and finally rested in a yard. When firefighters arrived, Powell said there was nobody in or around the vehicle.

“Whoever was operating the vehicle left the scene. We’ve got the tag, and it came on a lady who lived on Black Diamond,” said Deputy Ken Shepherd of the sheriff’s department.

Deputies were preparing to search for the person driving and to make sure they were not hurt.

Along with the sheriff’s department and volunteer firefighters, two Whitley County EMS units were at the scene.
