CORBIN — By Kristina Smith / Staff Writer
“Camp LEAP is fun, you know.”
That’s what 92 kids from across Laurel County sang this week during their music class — and by their expressions, you’d have to believe it.
Camp L.E.A.P. (standing for Learning Experiences At Play) has been held for the last nine summers so that children with special needs have an opportunity to come together for a few days of fun and learning. Campers went to art, music, recreation and special activity classes every day with their mentors.
L.E.A.P. is a private non-profit organization that relies on the donations of local individuals and businesses. Currently, Camp L.E.A.P. is in the running to win a $22,500 donation from L&N Federal Credit Union through an online contest.
