CORBIN — This Christmas will be a merrier one for 97 families and 242 children this year, thanks to the “Angels Unaware” campaign sponsored by Baptist Health Corbin. The campaign is supported by contributions from Baptist Health employees and is organized by Baptist Health Community Health Services.
On Wednesday, the families receiving the donations came to the community health services offices on Greer Lane in Corbin.
“It’s been going on for several years at the hospital, and we took it over here in 2008,” said Lee Richardson, Director of Community Services for Baptist Health. The families and children will receive a box containing a turkey or ham, depending on family size, potatoes, stuffing, corn, green beans, fruit, rolls, macaroni and cheese, cookie mix, hot cocoa mix. They’ll also get a tin, filled with popcorn, as well as a blanket, while each child receives a toy.
“While the number of families were about the same this year from last year, the number of children helped by the campaign increased from last year,” said Community Health Services Assistant Haley Farris (right).
