Batch nabbed by Whitley Co. Sheriff’s Department

Sheriff’s dept. seeks four others

By John L. Ross, Staff Writer

Four others were sought Thursday by the Whitley County Sheriff’s Department during the latest drug roundup.

The roundup, dubbed Operation May Time To Stop, brought eight arrests Thursday, and a ninth suspect turned himself in later that day.

Those remaining on the roundup list and their charges include:

— Kristy Baker, 34, of Williamsburg, is wanted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

— James Bell, 43, of Williamsburg, is wanted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

— Felisha Peace, 29, of Williamsburg, is wanted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance.

— Sammy Smith, 41, of Rockholds, is wanted for first-degree trafficking in a controlled substance. However, during the arrest of Troy Smith, another suspect, deputies learned Sammy Smith was in a serious car crash in November. According to Whitley County Sheriff’s Deputy Shawn Jackson, Smith was traveling on Wetstone Road when he “failed to negotiate a curve and hit a tree head-on.”

Troy Smith told deputies that Sammy Smith was still hospitalized but going through rehabilitation. At the time of the crash, deputies believed prescription drugs were likely involved.

If anyone has information about Baker, Bell or Peace, contact the sheriff’s office at 606- 549-6006.

Sheriff Colan Harrell said he wants to get the word out about these other wanted suspects, and said maybe those suspects will turn themselves in.
