A robbery at the Subway restaurant on the Cumberland Falls Highway in Corbin Wednesday night has law enforcement searching for the suspect.

Corbin Police said they are searching for a white male, approximately 160-170 pounds, wearing a blue shirt, black jacket and a black toboggan. The suspect was also wearing sunglasses on top of the toboggan and has a “scruffy” beard.

According to an employee at the store, Ashley Perkins, she was working alone. Just before the store closed at 10 p.m., the suspect walked into the store.

“He came in asking for cookies and left with a drawer full of cash,” Perkins said.

She was uninjured during the robbery, but said the suspect “had me lay down on the ground.”

She added that the suspect said she “wouldn’t get hurt” as long as she didn’t look at him.

Surveillance video captured the entire robbery on camera.

After asking for the cookies, the suspect brandished a weapon at Perkins.

Once preliminary reports were taken by Major Rob Jones and Officer Rick Baker, they waited for Detectives Bill Rose and Rusty Hedrick, who officers at the scene said will investigate this robbery.

While waiting for detectives, the store’s manager arrived at the scene. “We opened the store on Oct. 18,” said Sharon Grossman, manager. “This is the third time the store’s been robbed.”

She said the last two instances left damage to the store. “The last two times they took the back door out,” Grossman said.
