A Sevierville, Tenn. man charged with murder in a 2012 crash appeared before the Laurel County Circuit Court Thursday in a pretrial conference, where he had a trial date set for Jan. 14.

Currently, Thompson and current Barbourville City Council Member Gary Williams are running for the city’s top spot.

The North Laurel All-Stars represented Kentucky at the Little League Softball Central Region Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana. The team lost three straight games and was eliminated from the tournament.

    Recil Jones’ North Laurel 11-12 year-old All-Stars finished their stay in the Central Region Tournament with an 0-3 record after dropping a 9-4 decision to Wisconsin state champion Franklin Little League.
