Just clowning around

CORBIN — The Corbin Public Library asked kids and parents to “Dig Into Reading” this summer, and Tuesday they got some help from Ronald McDonald.

As part of the library’s annual Summer Reading Program, the cartoon character came to read the story “A Mouse Named Breeze” to an estimated 310 children and parents. Ronald read it twice — to some 180 during the 11 a.m. reading, and about 130 at the 2 p.m. reading (shown here).

“Ronald’s been a big hit today. He’s everybody’s favorite. Ronald really promotes reading, he’s so entertaining, and because everybody recognizes him, it’s a winning combination for all of us,” said Lisa Kersey, Assistant Director for the Corbin Public Library.

Three more events will be held this month — “Diggin’ for Dinos” will be July 9, the “World of Reptiles” on July 16, while the reading program ends on July 23 with their “Touch-A-Truck” program in the parking lot at Rotary Park.
