CORBIN — By LeeAnn Cain / Staff Writer
Saturday was the annual Cumberland Falls Beautification Day at Cumberland Falls State Resort Park.
Registration began at 9 a.m. and more than 50 volunteers picked up 123 bags of garbage. Volunteers were treated to a free hotdog lunch.
This is the only cleanup open to the public. However, registered volunteers can come to pick up trash at any time.
According to Trail Maintenance Director Pam Gibson, this cleanup is vital to maintaining the park, and said that without this event, Cumberland Falls would “never catch up” on cleaning up litter. In the photo, Madeline Moore, 19, of Corbin collects litter from between fallen trees and large rocks.
