Meth bust in Knox County

KNOX COUNTY — Three Hinkle men were jailed Wednesday after Knox County Sheriff's deputies discovered a meth lab in the residence in which they lived.

Sheriff John Pickard said he and deputies received a complaint about an alleged meth lab at a home on KY-1304 in the Hinkle community.

Pickard, Chief Deputy Derek Eubanks, and deputies Brian Hensley and Tommy Houston responded to the home and spoke with the homeowner, Ella Brock.

The sheriff said she allowed the Knox County Sheriff's Office to search her residence.

Once deputies searched her basement, Pickard said they located two 16-ounce bottles with methamphetamine waste in them, along with other items used to manufacture methamphetamine. Brock told deputies that David Smith, 24, Billy Brock, 25, and Ronald Brock, 56, all lived in the home and used the basement.
Pickard said neighbors told deputies they witnessed Smith allegedly run from behind the residence prior to the deputies' arrival.

Deputies were also given permission to search a residence located on the same property — that's where Pickard said deputies found Smith reportedly hiding in a closet.

The sheriff added that while deputies were still conducting their investigation, a witness came forward and told them Smith, Ronald Brock, and Billy Brock were allegedly seen by that witness manufacturing methamphetamine on three different occasions.
All three suspects were arrested and transported to the Knox County Detention Center.

Once there, Pickard said that Deputy Hensley searched his backseat "as he always does" and located a used needle underneath the seat where Smith was sitting.

Hensley also conducted a meth check, which showed that Smith, Billy Brock, and Ronald Brock all had allegedly been purchasing pseudoephedrine products at different locations.

All three face one charge of their first offense of manufacturing methamphetamine. Smith also faces one charge of tampering with physical evidence.

Ronald Brock was jailed and released from the detention center on an unknown bond amount. Billy Brock and Smith remain jailed, each under a $5,000 cash bond with home incarceration.
