CORBIN — Members of the Whitley County Master Gardeners Association gathered at the Engineer Street Bridge Thursday to plant flowers and work on the park, including some unplanned litter removal. After working there, the group moved on to the Corbin Public Library to work there. According to member Anne Hoskins, Master Gardeners are required to volunteer their time for at least 30 hours per year. Those participating Thursday were David Ellis, Wendal Mitchell, Carl Barton, Joyce Barton, Bonnie Gill, Anne Hoskins, Dolores Mackey and Margaret Ellis.
More than 1,700 people gathered Monday in Pikeville for the Shaping Our Appalachian Region – SOAR – Summit.
