CORBIN — There were plenty of rides to keep the kids occupied during the 24th annual World Chicken Festival. The festival will continue throughout the weekend in downtown London.
World Chicken Festival continues in London
Former Barbourville Mayor David Thompson (right) gives one of the papers he’s signed to file for running for office to Knox County Clerk Mike Corey on Monday. Thompson — who was the city’s mayor from November 2006 to March 2014 — will be running for the mayor’s job again on November 4. Currently, Thompson and current Barbourville City Council Member Gary Williams are running for the city’s top spot.

The North Laurel All-Stars represented Kentucky at the Little League Softball Central Region Tournament in Indianapolis, Indiana. The team lost three straight games and was eliminated from the tournament.

Recil Jones’ North Laurel 11-12 year-old All-Stars finished their stay in the Central Region Tournament with an 0-3 record after dropping a 9-4 decision to Wisconsin state champion Franklin Little League.
