CORBIN — Used book drive

Life Scout Bradley Pellegrini is collecting used books for the  Corbin Public Library. Drop-off boxes will be located at all Hometown Banks and at Forcht Bank on Master Street through March 30. Pick-up available. Call 595-0748.

CCC 5K run/walk

The deadline for early registration (which includes t-shirt) for the Christian Care Communities 5K walk/run to be held May 19 is Tuesday, May 8. Call 258-2500 for entry forms. Proceeds go to the activity fund.

KCEOC free tax help

KCEOC will have someone available for free tax assistance weekdays through April 14. Call 546-3152 for an appointment.

Concert for tornado victims

Wildcat Harley-Davidson will host a benefit concert Saturday, April 14, with proceeds benefiting the tornado victims of Laurel County. To participate in the event send requests to tornadobenefitconcert@smh-d.com.

AARP free tax help

Free tax assistance is available at the following libraries:

Corbin Public Library: Thursdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. through April 12. Call 528-6366.

Laurel County Public Library: Wednesdays 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Whitley County Public Library: Mondays 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. (later by appointment only)

Woodbine VFD fundraiser

Representatives of the Fire and Rescue 911 Portrait Studio will be going door-to-door through March taking orders for family portraits to raise money for the Woodbine Volunteer Fire Department. All representatives will have a Woodbine VFD identification card. Call 344-9027.

Legion membership drive

American Legion Post 88, Corbin, will pay half of the first year’s dues for new members signing up before March 31. Call 523-2190.

Prom donations

Gently used prom dresses, shoes and accessories are being accepted from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. weekdays at the First Presbyterian Church of London through March 23. Pick-up available. Call 864-6789.

Benefit pageant

A benefit pageant for boys and girls, “Hearts for Kyle,” will be March 25 at the Laurel County Courthouse Community Room. All proceeds go to 3-year-old heart transplant patient Kyle  Rogers. Call 526-9058 or 260-0127.
