It’s time to ramble about some things ...

The way it is

It’s been a while since I’ve rambled about some things.

Let’s see, Chad Johnson is still being Chad Johnson, but at least Marvin Lewis is finally putting his foot down, while saying publicly if Chad doesn’t want to play for the Bengals, then don’t play.

Switching over to Major League Baseball our very own sports writer Jimbo Collins —who has to be the biggest and most loyal Chicago Cubs fan I know — is in a good mood right now because of the recent play of the Cubbies.

Well, I hate to rain on his parade, but Chicago will come up short of a World Series once again, but hey, at least the Cubbies have been consistent for the past 100 years.

With that said, here we go ...

• Not sports related

You know, for the past 17 years, I have written “The Way It Is” and have never, ever strayed away from the topic of covering sports, but today, I am.

Is it not funny that the older you get, the more you like things compared to when you were younger?

For example — when I was in my teens, I could not stand to watch a “Godfather” movie or any type of movie that didn’t include the words Halloween or Friday the 13th in it.

Boy, how things change.

I still love my horror movies along with all six Star Wars movies, but I really, really like the “Godfather” trilogy.

The first “Godfather” movie is one of the best, if not the best, movies I have ever seen.

Anyway, I had to get that out there.

• Back to sports

The biggest shocker during the past week has to be Chris Hart’s Corbin Lady Redhounds’ split with 50th District rival South Laurel.

The Lady Redhounds’ 13-2 win over the state’s No. 21 ranked squad sent shockwaves throughout the state.

Congrats has to go out to Corbin coach Chris Hart and his assistant coaches, along with the Corbin Lady Redhounds players.

If Hart’s squad can continue to get solid pitching from Morgan Brock and Sarah Hill combined with solid hitting at the plate, Corbin could surprise in late May.

You can’t forget about the play of Andrea Ellis’ Lady Yellow Jackets either.

Williamsburg is another darkhorse in the 50th District.

Erin Sears provides the pop at the plate, while Cecily Sears provides the thunder on the mound.
