LONDON — The South Laurel Cardinals picked up their third straight win Tuesday, knocking off George Rogers Clark, 57-46 at home.

The win streak comes after a three-game skid and is the second time this season the Cardinals have won three in a row.

Senior guard Zack Jones led the way for South Laurel with 15 points, while Zac Baxter added 14, Blake Sanders chipped in 13 and Matt Slavey scored 10.

The Cardinals took a 15-11 lead as the first quarter wound down, but GRC turned the tables in the second period.

The Cardinals outscored South Laurel 15-9 in the period to grab a 26-24 lead at halftime.

The pace slowed in the third quarter, which allowed South Laurel to regain the lead after outscoring their opponent 12-4 to make the score 36-30 in favor of the home team Cardinals.

A 21-16 effort in the final period, including nine points by Sanders, helped secure the 57-46 win.

South Laurel improved to 10-11 on the season and will have a chance to get back to .500 Friday when the Cardinals travel to North Laurel.

The Cardinals beat the Jaguars 62-53 in the first meeting of the season back on Jan. 4.
