LONDON — The Corbin Redhound golf team placed second in a four-team SKGC golf match at Crooked Creek Golf Course. The Redhounds shot a 152, which was two shots off first place finisher Jackson County’s 150.
North Laurel placed third with a 173 while Whitley County turned in a fourth place effort with a 202.
Corbin’s Cody Ellis turned in a first place showing along with Jackson County’s Zachary Norris and Logan Estridge each shot a 36 while Corbin golfers Connor Maguet and Alex Davis rounded out the top five with each player turning in a 38-shot effort.
The Redhounds’ Henry Moore finished with a 40 while Luke Cooney turned in a 43. North Laurel’s Kyle Jeffers led the Jaguars with a 41 while Barrett James finished with a 42. Hunter North shot a 44 while Seth Reed’s 46 rounded out the Jaguar scoring.
RJ Rhodes led the way for Whitley County with a 41, as Mike Harris (48), Brad Moore (52) and Kyle Taylor (61) followed.

The Tri-County Sports Authority youth football league, which usually fields in the neighborhood of 200 players, is about to get a little more crowded this season.
THE WAY IT IS: Football is in the air in the Tri-County
These cool summer days are reminding me of the cool football Friday nights of September and October, and with that said, these cooler temperatures have me in the mood of writing about things to come for our local football teams in the Tri-County.
It’s never too early to talk about what games will be the big ones for the Tri-County high school football fans to watch this upcoming season. I’ve tried to narrow my list down to 10 games, but honestly, it really wasn’t easy to do — but I did manage to do it.
Let’s just say things should be very entertaining, and interesting, for you the fan this season.
