BOWLING GREEN — The Corbin Redhound golf team turned in a seventh place finish in the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Boys State Golf Championship Saturday after turning in a 646 effort.
West Jessamine took home top honors with a 593, while St. Xavier (595), St. Mary (621), Ryle (638) and Lexington Catholic (639) rounded out the top five teams.
Corbin was led by Connor Maguet’s 35th place performance, as the junior shot a 159 while teammate Alex Davis placed 39th with a 160. Henry Moore turned in a 42nd place effort with a 161 while Cody Ellis (64th, shot a 166) and Luke Cooney (84th, shot an 182) rounded out the Redhounds’ scoring.
St. Mary senior Joey Mayo had to survive West Jessamine’s Fred Allen Meyer and won the championship in a playoff, as both players turned in identical 141 efforts.
St. Xavier’s Stephen Stallings placed third with a 145 while Scott County’s Billy Tom Sergent finished in fourth place with a 146. Clay County’s Tyler McDaniel turned in a fifth place effort with a 147.
