Ben Phillips hits two home runs, including walk-off winner during Corbin's 11-8 win over Harlan

HARLAN — The Harlan All-Stars escaped from another big deficit Thursday only to see Ben Phillips make sure Corbin walked away with the win. Phillips delivered a blast to left field in the seventh inning, his second home run of the game, to send the Corbin All-Stars to an 11-8 victory over Harlan in the winner's bracket finals.

Harlan opened the scoring with three runs in the first inning. Jay Harris started the contest with a single. Lane Jones followed with another single, before Jordan Steele drove in both runners with a double. Steele later scored on a single from Josh Turner.

Corbin responded with three runs in the bottom of the inning. Cade Cooney started the offense with a leadoff walk. Steven Manon also walked. Phillips tied the game with a homer to right field.

Corbin took the lead with two runs in the second inning. Dylan Massingill started the inning with a walk. Cooney drove in the runner with a single to center field. Cooney later scored on a wild pitch.

The Corbin All-Stars tacked on two more runs in the third inning. Spencer Gilbert reached base on a walk. Cooney later reached on an error to short that scored Gilbert. Cooney scored when Garner Chandler singled to center field.

Josh Turner slugged Harlan back into the game in the fifth inning.

Harris reached first on a fielder's choice. Jones followed by drawing a walk. Steele drove in Harris with a single through the infield. Turner then cleared the bases with a shot over the fence in center field.

Corbin regained the lead with a run in the bottom of the inning.

Abe Barnes reached base on a walk. Barnes later scored when Manon singled up the middle of the infield.

Harlan tied the game with a run in the sixth inning. Ethan Cornett led off the inning with a walk. Cornett advanced to second and third on wild pitches. James Chasteen drove in the runner with a single to center field.

The Corbin All-Stars threatened to end the game in the bottom of the sixth. Corbin had the bases loaded with two outs, but Chasteen caught a hard-hit line drive from Cooley to end the inning.

After holding Harlan scoreless in the top of the seventh, Corbin ended the game with three runs in the bottom of the inning.

Chandler led off the inning with a single to center field. Manon followed with a double to left. Phillips then delivered a walk-off home run to left.

Turner had a homer and a double to pace Harlan at the plate. Steele added a double and a single. Chasteen delivered two singles. Kobe Burkhart doubled, while Harris and Jones each added a single.

Phillips' two home runs powered Corbin. Cooney, Chandler and Manon each contributed two singles, and Hash added a single.

Manon didn't allow a hit in the seventh inning to claim the win on the mound. Ethan Wine gave up four hits and one walk in one inning in the start. Hash struck out one batter, while allowing two hits in 2 1/3 inning of relief. Chandler had one strikeout and allowed three hits and one walk in 1 2/3 inning.

Steele struck out two, while giving up seven hits and five walks in seven innings in the loss. Steele struck out three batters in two innings in the start. Steele walked six batters and allowed two hits.
