Lady Cardinals remain unbeaten

By Chris Parsons

CORBIN — The Corbin Lady Redhounds scored first during Thursday’s showdown with unbeaten South Laurel, but the Lady Cardinals took over from there as they grabbed the 7-1 win.

It’s tough to imagine an undefeated team could need a wake-up call, but Todd White’s gave Corbin credit for a tough battle that he said may have been just what his team needed.

“We had played a lot of finesse teams and I don’t think we were ready for the physical style that Corbin brought,” White said. “They came out and played well early and scored the first goal and I think that may have woke our girls up and let them know they were going to have to earn the win.”
