Still Perfect

Whitley County improves to 2-0 with road win over Bell County

CORBIN —

BELL COUNTY — The Whitley County Lady Colonels improved to a perfect 2-0 on the season after going on the road Thursday and beating Bell County, 25-12, 25-18, 25-16.

The Lady Colonels jumped on the Lady Bobcats early and never looked back.

“It was a good win for us,” Whitley County coach David Halcomb said. “For the most part, I was really happy with the win. I was really happy with the way we moved and played on the floor and our serves were really consistent tonight.

“I thought we played well defensively and did a good job of getting a lot of kills at the net,” he added. “We were able to jump out on them early and it enabled us to look at some things. We let the kids show what they could do and that’s going to be good for us.”

Whitley County won’t get long to rest. The Lady Colonels will be back in action today while participating in the Boyle County Invitational.

“This will be a good gauge for us and let us know where we’re at,” Halcomb said. “We’re going to be able to see where we are and what we need to work on. I want us to be able to go out of the region and compete and we’ll get that chance this weekend.

“We play two games (today) against West Jessamine and Casey County, so we’re going to be tested early.”
