The Way It Is

CORBIN — We’re not even through with the 2013-14 season yet, but it’s never too early to talk about next season. Since we’ve crowned a 13th Region champion on the girls’ side of things, let take a glimpse of what might be for the 2014-15 campaign.

Granted, this is a rather early look of things, and I’m sure my top 10 will change numerous times before November.

2014-15 13th Region Girls Top 10

Bell County — The Lady Bobcats return a solid nucleus that includes Maci Morris and Jessica Sanders.

Harlan County — The Lady Black Bears might have been eliminated in first round action of the 52nd District Tournament, but look for them to rebound next season.

Harlan — Yep, the 52nd District is going to be loaded next season, to say the least.

Clay County — The Lady Tigers have the talent to make a run next season, but the loss of Sara Robinson will hurt.

Corbin — The Lady Redhounds graduate a lot of talent, but will remain solid.

Whitley County — The Lady Colonels are in the same boat as Corbin with losing a lot of talent, but also return a lot of young talent, too.

North Laurel — The Lady Jaguars showed a lot of promise this past season.

South Laurel — The Lady Cardinals took some lumps this past season, but should be much-improved in 2014-15.

Middlesboro — The Lady Yellow Jackets are another team that should be improved as well.

Lynn Camp — I’m putting the Lady Wildcats at the 10-spot because of how successful they’ve been the past two seasons, but with that said, they lost some key players in Jessica May, Merita Burke and Heather Wilson.
