Harlan Co. 5, North Laurel 4
North Laurel dropped a thriller to Harlan County on Saturday, losing 5-4 as the Black Bears managed to pull off a walk-off victory.
The Jaguars built leads of 3-0 and 4-1 before seeing Harlan County rally during the final two innings of the game.
After seeing the Black Bears score a run in the sixth inning to make the score, 4-2, North Laurel found itself in trouble during the bottom of the seventh inning after Harlan County (7-2) managed to load the bases.
The Jaguars (3-4) were two outs away from the win when a Scott Bailey connected with a slow roller that North Laurel pitcher Austin Thompson picked up. Bailey raced towards first and Thompson’s throw went over first baseman Logan Mallory’s head, which allowed the Black Bears to score the tying and winning runs.
