WHITLEY COUNTY — Hollywood couldn’t have scripted the way Whitley County senior Alex Rose’s final start of the season went down Thursday.
Rose pitched a no-hitter, leading the Colonels to a 10-0 win over Knox Central on Senior Night, making this the first 20-win season since 2005 (and the first time the team has won 20 games in the regular season for at least the past 20 years).
Head coach Kyle Adams said he couldn’t be any more pleased with the team’s effort against a Knox Central team that some believe can make some noise in the upcoming 13th Region Tournament.
“Alex did a great job for us tonight keeping them off balance,” Adams said. “Our defense didn’t have to do too much, but when they did have to they were able to make the play.
“This is a good win for our kids because it’s a win over a team that has really been playing good baseball lately,” Adams said. “I think this gives our kids some confidence as we head into the district tournament next week, so we have to see where we go from there.”

It’s never too early to talk about what games will be the big ones for the Tri-County high school football fans to watch this upcoming season. I’ve tried to narrow my list down to 10 games, but honestly, it really wasn’t easy to do — but I did manage to do it.
Let’s just say things should be very entertaining, and interesting, for you the fan this season.

Shelton was a hero by any definition
The word hero is used a little too loosely for my taste these days.
To be honest, it’s been used way too much for a long time and I’m just as guilty as the next guy.
