CORBIN — Sports Editorial
While most Tri-County teams kicked their respective district play off this past Friday, both Lynn Camp and Williamsburg will be doing so this Friday in Week Seven action.
The Yellow Jackets are the defending district champions, and many are picking Jerry Herron’s squad to repeat the feat again this season.
But don’t tell that to Lynn Camp, who is trying to capture its first district title since 2005. The Wildcats begin their quest for a district crown Friday on the road against Berea. A win over the Pirates means a win over Campbellsville would more than likely set up a district title show down between Phil Russell’s squad and Williamsburg.
But before I get too ahead of myself, the key is to get home playoff games this season. Whoever captures the district title will be playing at home all the way through the state semifinals as long as they keep winning.
I do believe the district championship will come down between both Williamsburg and Lynn Camp, but right now you have to give the edge to the Yellow Jackets, who are one of the top teams in Class A.
But if the Wildcats can get a home playoff game for the first time since 2007, you never know what they can do once postseason play begins.
With that said, I’m just anxious to see how these two teams play during the next month. It should be very interesting to say the least.
