BOWLING GREEN — North Laurel’s first trip to the Leachman Buick-GMC-Cadillac/KHSAA Girls State Golf Championship turned out to be a good one.
The Lady Jaguars turned in a ninth place finish during the two-day event by shooting a 708.
North Laurel senior Caroline Moore placed seventh with a two-day score of 153 while teammates Katie Bowling (172, 44th place), Lynsey Kraftick (180, 55th place), Caitlin Gibson (203, 74th place) and Brianna Valentine (263, 82nd place) followed.
Sacred Heart took home first place team honors with a 636, while Calloway County (658), Henry Clay (668), Green County (675) and Shelby County (687) rounded out the top five.
Barbourville eighth grader Kristen Engle turned in an impressive finish with a two-day total of 161, which was good enough for a 21st place showing while Williamsburg’s Morgan Walker finished in 42nd place with a two-day total of 171.
Calloway County’s Anna Hack won first place honors with a 142 while North Hardin’s Lydia Gumm followed with a 146 effort. Sacred Heart’s Maddie Hamilton shot a 149 for third place while Pulaski County’s Elsa Moberly (149, fourth place) and Heath’s Sydney Trimble (150) rounded out the top five.
