Redhounds fall on the road to Pulaski County

CORBIN — By Chris Parsons / Staff Writer

PULASKI COUNTY — Walks, errors and a slew of hit batters doomed the Corbin Redhounds Tuesday as they fell to Pulaski County on the road, 12-4.

With the game close heading into the sixth inning, Pulaski County busted loose for six runs in the bottom of the inning to push the lead to 12-4.

Corbin coach Rob Ledington said after the loss he thought the game was just one of those weird games that happen in baseball where a team just doesn’t play well.

“Baseball is a quirky game and there’s times where things happen and nothing seems to go right,” he said. “We hit the ball well, just not when we had runners on base or in scoring position.

“We had five or six errors, eight walks and four hit-batters in the game and any time you do that, you’re not going to win,” he added. “I think the kids are a little bit tired and maybe looking forward to postseason play, so you have games like this here and there.”

Corbin took a 1-0 lead after a run in the second inning, but the Maroons responded with four runs in the third inning to grab a 4-1 lead.

The Redhounds tied things up at four runs apiece with a three runs in the fifth, but Pulaski County responded again, this time with two runs to retake the lead, 6-4.

The six-run sixth inning put the game out of reach as the Redhounds fell, 12-4.
