WHITLEY COUNTY — The Whitley County Colonels came up on the losing end against Clay County Monday, dropping a 7-2 decision at home.
After falling behind 1-0 in the first inning, the Colonels got a pair of runs in the second to take a 2-1 lead.
The bad news was that’s all the offense Kyle Adams’ team could muster as Clay County scattered seven runs over the final six innings.
After the loss, Adams said his team seemed to struggle mentally in the loss.
“We had a few mental breakdowns tonight and they cost us,” Adams said. “I don’t think any of their seven runs were earned, so that gives you an idea.
“This loss was similar to a few we suffered early in the season, so hopefully we can bounce back,” he added.
