Solid Showings

Corbin, South Laurel and Williamsburg participate In McInvitational

MADISON CENTRAL — The Williamsburg Yellow Jackets track team turned in a Tri-County-best ninth place finish in the Madison Central Invitational while the Corbin Lady Redhounds placed 10th.

Host Madison Central won the boys’ overall championship by finishing with 121.83 points while Boyle County (107.33 points), Madison Southern (101.50), Russell County (77), Franklin County (64), Somerset (43.50), Model (41), Pulaski County (38), Mason County (34.33), Williamsburg (26), Corbin (24), Southwestern (16.50), South Laurel (3) and Berea (1) followed.

Pulaski County captured first place honors on the girls’ side with 123 points while Madison Central (122), Mason County (87), Boyle County (73), Madison Southern (71), Somerset (49), Scott (44), Russell County (42), Corbin (34), Southwestern (17), Franklin County (15), South Laurel (9), Williamsburg (8), and Model (4) rounded out the 14 participating teams.

Boys

Corbin’s Tucker Jones turned in a third place finish in the 1600 Meter Run (4:32.26). Fellow Redhound Andrew Johnson placed fifth in the 300 Meter Hurdles (46.84) and Taylor Waddle looked good in the 200 Meter Dash, placing third (24.16).

Williamsburg’s Garrett Faulkner turned in a third place effort in the 3200 Meter Run (10:30.96).

Girls

Corbin’s 4x800 Meter relay team  (Kaitlyn Waddle, Danielle Hickman, Hailey Martin and Bridgette Smallwood) placed fifth while Danielle Hickman placed third in the 400 Meter Dash (1:07.0). Reese Helton placed fourth in the 3200 Meter Run (13:38.80). Lady Redhound Chelsea Gibb finished fourth in the Discus Throw (74-08).

Williamsburg’s Natalie Croley placed fourth in the 100 Meter Hurdles (18.32) while teammate Fhazenah Jackson turned in a fifth place effort in the 100 Meter Dash (13.04). Jackson also finished fifth in the 200 Meter Dash (29.08).
