Lady Redhounds fall on the road, 10-0

CORBIN —

By Chris Parsons / Staff Writer

MIDDLESBORO — The Corbin Lady Redhounds went into Thursday’s game against Middlesboro riding a five-game win streak and winners of seven of the past nine. The streak didn’t last though, as the Lady Yellow Jackets outplayed Corbin to a tune of 10-0 in five innings.

Corbin junior hurler Hannah Hart took the loss for the Lady Redhounds, giving up five runs through two and 2/3 innings before giving way to Christian Carpenter. Unfortunately for Corbin, Carpenter didn’t fare much better, giving up five runs on eight hits through the final two innings.

As tough as the game was on the defensive side of things for Corbin, things weren’t much better at the plate. Middlesboro’s Jessica Carter held the Lady Redhounds to just two hits in the game as Kelley Farley and Katie Bernardo each tallied singles in the game.

Middlesboro scored a pair of runs in the first inning and three more in the second to grab a 5-0 lead after two innings. Three more runs in the third pushed the gap to 8-0 and the Lady Yellow Jackets closed things out with two more in the bottom of the fifth inning.
