KNOX CENTRAL — Darren Mills’ Knox Central Lady Panthers continue to be the hardest team to figure out in the 13th Region.
After losing five games in a row just a week ago, Knox Central has reeled off three wins during its last four games, including Friday’s 67-66 come from behind overtime win over 51st District rival Barbourville.
Knox Central trailed 25-20 at halftime and 61-58 with less than a minute left in regulation before Jaylene Patterson hit three straight free throws to send the game into overtime.
Once the game went into overtime, Knox Central’s Jenna Mills took over. She hit two free throws during the final seconds to give her team the one-point win over Barbourville.
Mills led the Lady Panthers with 23 points while connecting on 14-of-18 shot attempts from the free-throw line.
Kara Erslan led the Lady Tigers with 31 points while hitting 13-of-18 shot attempts from the free-throw line while Kelsey Erslan scored her 1,000 career point in the loss while scoring 19 points on nine-of-11 shooting from the charity stripe.
The Lady Panthers will be back in action today against Hazard at 2 p.m. Barbourville is off until a matchup on Thursday against Middlesboro.
