WHITLEY COUNTY — The Corbin Lady Redhounds exploded for 11 runs in the first inning, and never looked back during their 13-0 rout of 50th District foe Whitley County.
Corbin added two more runs in the second inning, as the pitching combo of Hannah Hart and freshman Meg Greene kept the Lady Colonels’ bats at bay.
“This was a good district win for us,” Hart said. “Any time you can get a win at Whitley County, it’s nice. I thought we hit the ball real well, and I thought our pitching was excellent tonight. I thought both Hannah and Meg did a good job.”
Whitley Gatliff and seventh-grader Harleigh Grubb led the offensive attack by collecting two hits apiece. Gatliff led the way with a double and three RBI while Grubb had two runs scored and an RBI. Hart went 1-for-2 with a run scored and two RBI while Sydney Reynolds, Greene and Amber Allen each drove in a run in the win.
The Lady Redhounds will be back in action today on the road against Clay County.
