Lady Colonels cruise past Jackson County

WHITLEY COUNTY — The Whitley County Lady Colonels improved to 22-5 overall with an 83-24 win over Jackson County Monday.

Whitley County jumped out to a 19-0 run in the first quarter. Several Jackson County miscues and Lady Colonel defensive stops led to many scoring opportunities early in the contest.

Brandi Smith and Abbey Estes combined for nine points on three-point field goal shooting during the quarter.

The balanced scoring attack continued when Taylor Dingess and Maria Johnson entered the scoring column. Each knocked down a three-point basket as Dingess led Whitley County in scoring in the second quarter with nine points, giving the Lady Colonels a solid 42-14 advantage at halftime.
