CORBIN — After a 13-3 loss to South Warren in the Redhounds’ first game of the day Saturday, the home team responded to knock off 13th Region contender Harlan County 9-3.
Austin O’Neill led the way at the plate for the Redhounds, finishing the game 2-for-4 with a double and three RBIs in the game, while Jacob Metzger got the win on the mound giving up two runs on three hits and striking out six through 4 1/3 innings.

The Redhounds added two more runs in the seventh to give them plenty of room as they held on for the 9-3 win. T.C. Collins pitched final inning, allowing a run o one hit with three strikeouts to seal the victory.

The Redhounds pounded out 10 hits in a 13-3 loss to South Warren in the first game of the day Saturday, but that was nowhere near enough to pull Ledington’s squad out of the hole late.
The Spartans scored four runs in each of the fourth, fifth and sixth innings, handing Chad Brown the loss for Corbin.
Brown took a slim 1-0 lead into the fourth inning, but South Warren banged out four hits in the inning, which accompanied by an error, a walk and a hit batter gave the Spartans a lead they never let go of.
Corbin trimmed the gap to 4-2 when Corey Ledington scored from third on a fielder’s choice off the bat of Derek Terry, but South Warren added four runs in the top of the fifth to push the gap to 8-2.
The Spartans tallied five hits in the top of the sixth inning to extend the lead to 12-2, putting the game out of reach for good. Both teams added a run in the sixth inning as the Spartans held on for the 13-3 win.
Corbin will be back in action today when the Redhounds travel to Williamsburg to face the Yellow Jackets the first of two 50th District showdowns this week.
