SOMERSET — Errors have plagued the Corbin Lady Redhounds throughout the season and it wasn’t any different Thursday during their 12-2 loss to Somerset.
Corbin committed three errors and only five runs were earned during the 10-run loss, as Christian Carpenter battled in the circle and finished the game with three strikeouts.
“We faced a very good hitting team today,” Corbin coach Chris Hart said. “They hit the ball well on us and we had a hard time coming from behind. You gotta give credit to Somerset.”
The Lady Redhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead in the top of the third inning after run-scoring singles by Lindsey Barton and Kelley Farley, but the lead didn’t last for long.
Somerset scored two runs of its own in the bottom of the inning before adding two more in the fourth inning while putting the game away with nine runs in the bottom of the fifth.
Barton led Corbin with a 2-for-3 effort at the plate while driving in a run while Hannah Hart, Farley, Whitney Gatliff and Sydney Reynolds also had a hit apiece in the loss.
