The Whitley County Colonels announced the hiring of a new soccer coach Tuesday, as Jared Earnest took over the program following the departure of Bosco Cupac.

Earnest is a chemistry teacher at Whitley County High School and is currently serving as head boys’ soccer coach at Whitley County Middle School. He graduated from George Rogers Clark High School and Asbury University.

“Coach Earnest brings significant experience to the sport and we feel fortunate that he accepted the position,” Whitley County High School Principal Alan Sweet said, “We welcome him as our new soccer coach. I look forward to working with Coach Earnest; he will make a great addition to the Whitley County coaching staff.”

Earnest, who brings with him two decades of experience as both a player and coach, said he’s excited about the opportunity and looks forward to next season.

“As I have played soccer for the last 20 years, I have a passion and love for the sport that reaches beyond my own playing ability on the field.” Earnest said. “I have been blessed to coach the middle school team and each of the players have worked very hard as well as bonded together as a brotherhood.

“As coaching the middle school has revitalized the love of this sport in a very big way for me, I am humbly grateful for the opportunity and extremely excited to coach a high school team that is both young and full of energy and one that will rise to play at the highest of levels,” he added.
