Lady Redhounds pick up wins over Berea and Whitley Co.

CORBIN — By Les Dixon / Sports Editor

BEREA — The Corbin Lady Redhounds won their second game in a row and third during the past four by defeating Berea 3-2 Thursday. Eric Steely’s squad was coming off an 11-1 win on Wednesday against Whitley County, and didn’t waste any time taking control of their contest against Berea.

The Lady Redhounds jumped out to a 2-0 lead before holding on for the one-goal win. Maddie Thompson scored two goals in the win while Morgan Boggs added one. Kaitlyn addle assisted all three goals for Corbin.

“We led throughout, but we didn’t play very well today,” Steely said. “We relied on a lot of individual play today. But the good thing is that we came away with the win.”

Corbin 11, Whitley County 1

The Lady Redhounds led 4-1 at halftime before turning things up a notch in the second half to pick up the 11-1 win over district foe Whitley County.

Morgan Boggs led the Lady Redhounds with four goals, as Corbin won its district opener.

“I thought we played really well in the second half,” Steely said. “I was really happy with the way we played.

“We kind of got off to a slow start in the first half, but we adjusted well and did a great job during the second half,” he added.
