FORT WALTON BEACH, FLA. — The North Laurel Lady Jaguars entered the season tagged by many to make a run for the program’s second state championship, but so far they have struggled.
After starting the season with a 2-0 mark, the Lady Jaguars (3-4) have dropped four of their last five games, including Sunday’s 7-0 blanking by Marshall County. The loss to the Lady Marshalls is North Laurel’s fourth against an in-state team this season. They only had six losses to in-state teams during the 2012 campaign.
The Lady Jaguars could only muster two hits in the loss and lost the services of starting pitcher Megan Baldwin after the second inning when she took a line drive off her left elbow.
North Laurel will be off today before getting back in action Tuesday against Ohio’s Obion County High School.
