CORBIN — Corbin dropped a hard-fought 3-2 decision to Henry Clay with the Blue Devils escaping with a 3-2 win.
The Redhounds won two of three singles matches, but went 0-2 in doubles play.
“A very strong Henry Clay team came to Corbin today,” Corbin coach Nickie Dixon said. “Their lineup went just a little deeper than ours today. However it was close. We lost 2-3 but there were two matches that had to be decided in a third set tie-break.
“In singles I continue to be impressed with Connor Maguet and William Reedy,” she added. “Connor dominated today and kept control of the points. William was playing a very tough opponent and the score was as close as it could be in the first set. William had to fight off about 7 set points to end up winning in a tiebreak. He then controlled things more easily in the second set. I was very proud of his effort.”
