LONDON — The KHSAA Region 11 Archery meet was held Thursday at London’s Bush Elementary School and the host team made the best of it.
South Laurel came away with first place in the team competition, besting second-place Corbin by 46 points, 3,290 to 3,244.
If taking first place in the team division wasn’t enough, the Cardinals swept first and second place in the boys’ individual competition as well.
South Laurel’s Dylan Martin scored a 292, which was good enough for first place, while Matt Arthur’s 287 secured second place.
Corbin’s Jeremy Elliott nabbed third place with a 284, while Morgan Johnson’s 284 gave the Cardinals’ three of the top five finishes overall. Clay County’s Josh Jackson finished fifth.
On the girls’ side of things, Clay County’s Devin Breedlove took home first place with a 278.
A pair of Corbin Lady Redhounds finished second and third as Brittany Elliott scored a 276 and Kate Anderson finished with a 275 for third. Whitney Rice grabbed fourth place with a 275, while Jackson County’s Caitlin McQueen finished fifth with a 271.
All of the above-listed finishers qualify for the state tournament, which will be held March 18-19 at the Kentucky International Convention Center.
