CORBIN — The Corbin Lady Redhounds extended their win streak to seven games Monday with a 52-46 win over visiting Lynn Camp.
Sarah Ashley led the way for the Lady Redhounds with 17 points, while Kayla Smith paced Lynn Camp with a 16-point effort.
After the win, Corbin coach Jennifer Parsons had high praises for a Lynn Camp team that gave the Lady Redhounds trouble when it came to playing the style Parsons said her team is used to playing.
“Lynn Camp is a very good, scrappy team that took us out of our game,” Parsons said. “We allowed them to set the tempo and pace instead of us playing our game.
“This was a good region matchup game for us and a good test for my team late in the year,” she added.
Lynn Camp led 13-12 at the end of the first quarter, but the Lady Redhounds pushed the pace in the second period to grab a 32-24 lead at halftime.
The Lady Cats trimmed the gap to 41-35 at the end of the third quarter, but played even with Corbin in the fourth period as they fell, 56-42.
Corbin will be back in action Friday when it hosts Harlan County. Lynn Camp will travel to Jellico, Tenn. today to face the Lady Blue Devils.
